About

This website’s primary objective is to provide technical insights on earthquake hazard analysis and some regional earthquake-related hazard information. While many websites offer detailed information on past earthquakes, regional seismicity, and global tectonics, this site focuses mainly on the analytical aspects of earthquake hazard formulation, and it provides several interactive pages to help users better understand the complex concepts.

The website is designed and maintained by Mehrdad Mahdyiar, an earthquake seismologist with over thirty years of experience constructing large-scale regional seismicity models and conducting site-specific earthquake hazard analysis. For more than 20 years, he worked as the director of the Earthquake Hazard Group at AIR-Worldwide/Verisk, a company specializing in global risk modeling and analysis. His work included developing regional hazard and risk models for large-scale portfolios for many countries worldwide. Mahdyiar is a registered civil engineer in California. He received his MS in civil engineering and PhD in geophysics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

This site is a work in progress. More information and interactive tools will be added regularly. Please send your comments, suggestions, requests, and questions to geodialog@outlook.com or add comments here Comments.
